You can rest easy, rock fans who hate it when Mommy and Daddy fight: Jack White's onstage rant insulting the Foo Fighters and Rolling Stone magazine has been laughed off by at least one of White's targets.

their music videos so reliably entertaining, the Foos laughed off White's derogatory reference to their use of an additional live guitarist ("playing the same parts I play back right here in case I make a mistake") by telling Twitter followers that they'd been "busted" and
tweeting a photo of the simian "secret of the Foo Fighters sound":

issued a statement explaining that White hadn't seriously meant what he'd said and accusing members of the media of taking a misinterpreted joke and blowing it out of proportion. The statement reads as follows:

Dear dream-makers of the media...Last night Jack White made a joke on stage! There was a minor equipment mishap, specifically with his guitar, and in an effort to keep his audience engaged, he made a joke! It was meant to be funny and self deprecating: 'Hey, sorry, you’re stuck with just me up here...' vs. the Foo Fighters who have three guitar players on stage and regularly play stadium shows. Jack has the upmost respect for the Foo Fighters and communicated with Grohl this morning. So if you’ll let us, we’ll all continue with our day and we assure you: All is well in the rock n roll world.

Rolling Stone Magazine, meanwhile, still seems to be a genuine target of White's ire -- at least until whoever's running their Twitter account has the good sense to tweet a picture of a monkey at a typewriter.
