2017 Classic Rock Tour and Festival Preview

From Alice Cooper to ZZ Top, there’s no shortage of classic-rock tours to carry weary music fans through 2017. There didn’t seem to be too many fans of 2016, and by most accounts, this year has gotten off to its own wobbly start. Thankfully, there’s plenty of live music that serves as an escape from rock-star deaths and a divisive political climate.

There’s a wealth of legendary acts touring this year, giving us a taste of new material rolled up with fist-pumping favorites. Whether it’s solo tours by band favorites, package tours of historic rock icons or tribute tours designed to satiate your nostalgic needs, 2017 is sizing up as a concert year with something for everyone.

The trend of double-bill tours — like the ones that pair Peter Frampton and the Steve Miller Band, Journey and Asia and Chicago and the Doobie Brothers — continues to grow. Meanwhile, iconic solo acts like Rod Stewart‘s summer team up with Cyndi Lauper are already creating buzz. Solo excursions for Heart‘s Ann Wilson and Genesis‘ old guitarist Steve Hackett offer an alternative taste of a familiar flavor. And Experience Hendrix and Dead and Company will fill the gaps left by the death of Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead‘s retirement, respectively.

But that only scratches the surface. Festivals, small venues and stadium tours are all a part of the year ahead. Check out our 2017 Classic Rock Tour and Festival Preview above and then mark your calendars for the next several months.
