Rockers We’ve Lost In 2013: Beatles Collaborator Tony Sheridan

You Tube

British singer Tony Sheridan, an early collaborator with the Beatles, passed away on Feb. 17 at age 72. Sheridan and the Beatles met while both acts were gigging in Germany in the early ’60s. During a residency at the Top Ten club in Germany, the club owner offered the Beatles a standing gig to back Sheridan. This would eventually lead to the band’s first recording sessions, backing the singer on a handful of recordings including ‘My Bonnie’ which would be the record that caught the attention of one Brian Epstein, who would, of course, go on to discover and manage the Beatles.

Next: Producer Shadow Morton
