Ray Manzarek, keyboardist and founding member of the Doors, died May 20 after a long battle with bile duct cancer. He was 74. Manzarek's contributions to the sound, feel and overall vibe of the Doors' music is undeniable. His organ playing not only helped anchor the band, but also very distinctly colored the songs. Manzarek was also a highly respected producer, lending his skills behind the board to the first four albums by LA punk pioneers X.  “I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and bandmate Ray Manzarek today,” said Doors guitarist Robby Krieger. "Ray was a huge part of my life and I will always miss him.”
