Denver-based concert promoter and self-proclaimed 'Rockfather,' Barry Fey, passed away on April 29. Though his death is still under investigation, the Boulder Journal reported the cause of death as suicide. He was 73 years old and had been recovering from hip replacement surgery. Fey got his start in the business in 1965, promoting concerts in the Chicago area, before moving to Denver in 1967 to run the legendary Family Dog concert hall. Years later Fey began booking rock concerts at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater just outside Denver. His autobiography, 'Backstage Past,' was issued in 2011.
