Songwriter and musician Joe South died of unspecified causes on Sept. 5. He was 72. Joe penned songs that became hits for everyone from Lynn Anderson and Billy Joe Royal to Elvis Presley and Deep Purple, who scored a huge hit with 'Hush.' As a session musician he played on many recordings, including Bob Dylan's 'Blonde On Blonde.' He scored a hit of his own with the classic 'Games People Play' in 1969, which earned him two Grammys.
